21 July 2012 – Amanda Miller Memorial WOD

AllSport CrossFit will host the Amanda Miller Memorial WOD on Saturday, 21 July 2012, along with many other boxes around the world.

Amanda Miller competed in the 2009 CrossFit games and sadly, lost her battle with cancer less than one year later. In 2010, the first WOD of the 2010 Games was dedicated to her and now “Amanda” is known as one of the gold-standard for fitness and tenacity in all of CrossFit.

This single-wod, online competition allows athletes to train for and compete in a workout that raises awareness of cancer in children, and to attack a workout that is difficult and extremely challenging, with the same fight, tenacity and determination that Amanda Miller brought to everything she did.

Registration Fee: $20.00 for all competitors and participants. No pledges or fundraising required. Just register, and prepare to crush the wod on July 21, 2012 to be held at AllSport CrossFit and other boxes around the world!

As one of the world’s premier cancer centers, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is committed to exceptional patient care, leading-edge research, and superb educational programs.

They receive an “A” rating from CharityWatch, meaning they generally spend 75% or more of their budgets on programs, spend $25 or less to raise $100 in public support, do not hold excessive assets in reserve, and receive “open-book” status for disclosure of basic financial information and documents to CharityWatch.

Donations to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center can be made to research a specific area of concern, and in this case, all proceeds will go to fund research for Melanoma treatment, in Amanda Miller’s name.

Competition Details

“Amanda” will be performed at the box of your choice on July 21st, 2012. “Amanda” consists of

9-7-5 Muscle Ups Squat Snatches, #135/#95

The best time in each division (RX, scaled, Masters, etc) will win the division.


RX Men/Women/Masters:  9-7-5 Muscle ups, Squat Snatches, (#135/#95)

Scaled Men/Women:  9-7-5 CTB Pullups, Squats Snatches (#115/#75)

Masters: Masters 45+ will have their own competition/prize category, but to be eligible to win, you must do the wod as RX’d. If you cannot do the wod RX’d, choose the scaled category. Competitors of any age will be eligible to win the scaled division.

Participant: 9-7-5 Pullups/Snatches, pick a weight that is challenging for you. Do CTB if able.

Prize monies will be announced shortly. There is no prize for the “participant” category other than the pride of knowing you contributed to a great cause.


Muscle ups: Arms fully locked at the top and at the bottom. Turnout is optional, as long as the arms are fully extended at the bottom of the movement.

Squat Snatches: Hip crease MUST be below the knee on the squat and fully extended. You may power snatch the bar and then sink into a squat if necessary. You may drop the weight once fully extended out of your squat with the bar fully overhead.


Because only one wod is being submitted, you must provide your scores in minutes, seconds and hundredths of a second, to avoid the possibility of a tie. Scores will be submitted as follows: 03:26:44. Video submissions must show the final stopwatch time, and weights upon set up.
